Want to share a live location on WhatsApp that is not where you actually are? WhatsApp's live location uses your phone's real-time GPS, so the only way to change it is to change the GPS your phone reports. Here is how to send a convincing fake live location on iPhone and Android in about 5 minutes, with no VPN, no jailbreak, and no root.
WhatsApp gives you two location options inside a chat. Send Current Location drops a one-time pin, and Share Live Location broadcasts your real-time position for 15 minutes, 1 hour, or 8 hours, updating as you move. Both read the same thing: your phone's GPS. So if you change the GPS at the system level, WhatsApp shares the fake spot for either option, and the person on the other end sees it as a normal location.

Why a VPN does not change your WhatsApp location
This is the first thing people try, and it does nothing. A VPN changes your IP address, but WhatsApp live location does not read your IP. It reads your phone's GPS. So you can connect to a server in another country and your shared location will still sit on your real street. Fake-location apps from the App Store usually fail too, because Apple blocks real GPS spoofing there. The only thing that moves your WhatsApp location is a tool that rewrites the GPS data at the system level.
Live location vs current location: which are you faking?
Pick based on what you want the other person to see. Send Current Location is a single static pin. Faking it is simple: set one fake spot and send it. Share Live Location is real-time and keeps updating, so a pin that never moves for an hour can look slightly off if the person expects you to be traveling.
That is where route simulation helps. AnyTo can move your GPS along a path at a speed you choose, so your live location walks or drives naturally instead of sitting still. If you are pretending to be on your way somewhere, this is the part that sells it.
AnyTo runs on your Windows PC or Mac and changes the GPS your phone reports. Because it works at the system level, WhatsApp reads the fake spot as a real one. It has a route mode for moving live locations, needs no jailbreak or root, and supports the latest iOS 26 and Android 16.

Is faking a WhatsApp location safe?
For personal use, the risk is low. WhatsApp does not scan for GPS spoofing the way strict games like Pokemon GO do, so changing your own location for privacy is unlikely to cause account problems. That said, use common sense. Do not use a fake location to deceive someone for fraud, to fake an alibi, or to mislead anyone in a way that could harm them. Keep it to privacy, harmless situations, and your own accounts, and you stay on the right side of it.

Tap Stop Sharing in the WhatsApp chat to end the live share, then close AnyTo and disconnect your phone. On iPhone, restart the device and your real GPS comes back.
